Approx. 5 pound bag. 18-20 mussels per pound. Live.

Out of stock for the foreseeable future: Shop our Gold Mussels for another Maine mussel option!

The blue mussel is a New England staple. We source from Bangs Island Mussels where they are rope-grown in cold Maine waters. Bangs Island is known for growing plump and tender mussels with a sweet hint of the sea.
Enjoy these steamed with garlic and white wine, or in stews, soups, bouillabaisse, and other pasta dishes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/CARE: This product is live. Healthy mussels will be slightly open. Discard mussels that have broken or remain open after being tapped together. Store in refrigeration upon receipt, preferably in a mesh bag, covered in damp towels or paper. Do not store in fresh water or ice. Do not store in airtight plastic containers or bags. DO NOT eat any cooked mussels whose shells remain closed. Best when prepared on the day of arrival.
