Gambas prawns thrive in the Mediterranean, off the northern coast of Spain, most famously harvested in the town of Palamós. These large prawns are akin to Spain’s renowned “carabineros” red prawns, yet gambas are distinguished by their subtle, pearly-red hue and a delicately sweet flavor, with notes reminiscent of vanilla.

While 99% of the gambas available in the U.S. are sourced from Africa, Browne Trading’s gambas are authentically Spanish. Each bears the “Gamba de Palamós” seal, certifying its origin in the Palamós fishing grounds and guaranteeing strict quality standards throughout the entire production process. Established in 2007, this seal protects one of the Costa Brava’s most treasured natural resources and gives consumers confidence in the provenance and excellence of every prawn.
